I’m a seaside holiday person and I can’t help but wonder, what goes on in these scenic little towns when the tourists are all gone?

REEL IT IN! is an exploration of that question!

CHARLIE is crazy about animals, a little bit skeptical of people, and prone to getting into trouble when no one’s looking. She’s the kid that says, ‘Mooom, can we keep him?’ about every single creature.

SAL (short for SALTY) is her mother. She’s a sailorwoman who ferries tourists around the small islands and hidden beaches on her old creaking boat. She sees the best in everyone and has an endless supply of can-do attitude.

JULIA is a big deal journalist famous for her food critic column. Or, well, she used to be, before she disgraced herself and her boss sent her to a sleepy seaside village with an impossible task: find me a groundbreaking story before tourist season starts, or you’re fired. Her career is everything to her.

MR OCTOPUS is a distinguished gentleman who likes flourishing his top hat, following Charlie around, and not being gawked at by tourists, thank you very much!

Julia will do anything to get her job back, no matter how distractingly romantic Sal is. Charlie is determined to keep her Octopus friend hidden from the journalist, despite her mother’s enthusiasm about this new woman. Mr Octopus just wants to keep sneaking food from the local restaurants in peace and quiet.

BONEHEAD

In this project, I wanted to explore consistent characterisation after a magical transformation.

This is BONEHEAD, a barbarian brute who has always relied on strength and aggression. He was on top of the world until a cursed axe turned him into a tiny, squishy, easily tired corgi dog.

Bonehead is not pleased. At all.

He’s got a lot of character development to suffer through as he learns to navigate the world as someone cute and vertically challenged.
